Dr Christopher Arnot
Christopher attained a BSc (Hons) and MSc from the University of the Witwatersrand, followed by a PhD from the Department of Biochemistry at Cambridge, working on innate immune receptor signalling and assembly. He subsequently worked as a research consultant and postdoc, collaborating with a variety of companies including GSK, Biopharma, Pfizer and AstraZeneca. Christopher joined Cambridge Enterprise as a Consultancy Associate in September 2011.

Jonathan Bailey
Jonathan joined Cambridge Enterprise as a Consultancy Associate in June 2006 following seven years negotiating professional services agreements for a London based firm of consulting civil and structural engineers. Prior to this he was a Director of a family owned Cambridge firm of building contractors. Earlier in his career he carried out consultancy work into various technical and commercial aspects of the mining and metals industries. He has an M.A. in Geology from Brasenose College, Oxford and an MSc in Mineral Exploration from Imperial College, London.

Dr Stuart Ballard
Stuart joined Cambridge Enterprise as a Consultancy Associate in February 2009. He previously worked for the National Institute for Environmental eScience (NIEeS) for six years; initially as Science Co-ordinator and then as Deputy Director.

Peri Cihan
Peri joined Cambridge Enterprise in January 2012 as Consultancy Administrator (maternity cover). Before joining Cambridge Enterprise Peri worked for CRAC: The Career Development Organisation for 4 years, where she developed strong project and event management skills. In her role at CRAC as a programme manager for Vitae, Peri was responsible for developing and delivering an annual programme of training activities for researchers.

Dr Paul Seabright
Paul joined Cambridge Enterprise in April 2009 to take up the post as head of consultancy services and is responsible for both IT and business support. In 2010 he was a board member and director of Cambridge University Technical Services Limited (CUTS), a consultancy company wholly owned by Cambridge Enterprise Ltd. He has considerable experience of technology transfer in both the biotech and medtech sectors, a degree in biochemistry and a PhD in chemistry from Manchester. Paul was previously head of business development at Health Enterprise East where he was instrumental in building a successful technology transfer and consultancy organisation for the NHS in this region. Before this he was a technology manager at Cambridge Enterprise for more than 3 years and led its life science team. Paul also spent 5 years as a senior scientist with a Cambridge biotech company developing the its medtech business and has been a postdoctoral researcher with the MRC and the University of Cambridge.

Dr Amanda Zeffman
After gaining a PhD in HIV research from the MRC-Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, then working for the Food Standards Agency in scientific policy, Amanda went on to work for Isis Research (now known as Synovate Healthcare) where she was responsible for planning, implementing and analysing large international studies on HIV therapy for the Pharmaceutical industry.
In January 2005 Amanda joined the University of Nottingham's School of Pharmacy, where she ran a newly created interdisciplinary Doctoral Training Centre. As project manager, she coordinated the PhD programme and brought together academics and industry to generate collaborative research projects in targeted therapeutics. Amanda also ran a government-funded project to develop researchers' transferable skills.
Amanda joined Cambridge Enterprise as Consultancy Associate in 2008.

Dr Richard Jennings
Richard is Deputy Director of Cambridge Enterprise and a board member of both Cambridge Enterprise and its wholly owned consultancy company, Cambridge University Technical Services (CUTS). He is also a non-executive director of Ifm Education and Consultancy Services Ltd, the Institute for Manufacturing's knowledge transfer company.
Formerly, Richard was Head of Chemical Research at Napp Research Centre on the Cambridge Science Park. He joined the University as Assistant Director for Industrial Cooperation of the Wolfson Cambridge Industrial Unit, with responsibility for biomedical projects, in 1988. In 1994, he became Director and also joined the board of the University's technology transfer company, now called Cambridge Enterprise. Richard was appointed Director of Research Policy in 2000 and joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2005 to establish its consultancy business.
Richard has a very extensive track record of establishing mutually beneficial university-industry collaborations and commercialising University-derived intellectual property through consultancy, licensing and spin-off companies.
He has a D. Phil in Chemistry from the University of Sussex, is a non-executive director of Granta Design Ltd and a Fellow of St Edmund's College.

Dr Tony Raven
Dr Tony Raven joined Cambridge Enterprise as Chief Executive in December 2011. Previously he was Director of Research & Innovation Services at the University of Southampton, where he helped establish Southampton’s international reputation as a leading entrepreneurial university, creating a portfolio of 11 spin-out companies with four listings on the London Stock Exchange.
After graduating with a First in physics from Manchester University, he obtained his MSc and DPhil from the University of Oxford. He worked at Rutherford Appleton Laboratories and Osaka University before joining Cambridge-based PA Consulting in 1983.
In 1985 he was a founder of Summit Technology, the market leader in laser refractive surgery, which was acquired by Nestle Alcon in 2000 for $893 million. In 1987 he co-founded Cambridge-based Sagentia Group plc, a technical and management consultancy which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. In 1991 he founded Diomed Inc, a pioneer and world leader in therapeutic medical diode lasers, and served as CEO and Deputy Chairman until 2000.
Dr Raven is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Georgina Weller
Georgina joined Cambridge Enterprise in July 2012. She is the Executive Assistant to Chief Executive Officer Dr Tony Raven, and also supports Dr Richard Jennings, Dr Malcolm Grimshaw, Dr Iain Thomas and Dr Paul Seabright. Previously Georgina worked as the Office Manager and Assistant to the Registrary at the Old Schools.

Elizabeth Bone
Elizabeth joined Cambridge Enterprise in August 2007 as an Accounts Assistant, and is responsible for the purchase ledgers for both Cambridge Enterprise and Cambridge University Technical Services. Elizabeth has over 20 years experience of ledger accounts.

Alanah Chapman
Alanah joined Cambridge Enterprise in April 2012 as HR/Office Administrator. Alanah provides support to the HR and Office Manager on all areas of office administration and lends some support to the HR function of the company. Alanah has worked in Business and Administration since she left school in 2009.

Steven Humm
Steven joined Cambridge Enterprise as Sales Ledger Administrator in December 2011.
Steven came to CE after five years experience working for a spin out company from Cambridge Consultants. Prior to this Steven Has over 25 years of experience in Manufacturing, Retail and Wholesale accounts.

Caroline Knightley
Caroline Knightley (Chartered MCIPD) joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2002 and has recently completed her Master of Arts in HR. She has built on the experience of various administrative roles within the company including Office Management and is now continuing and specialising in the role of HR Manager, with responsibility for all aspect of Human Resources within Cambridge Enterprise.

Helen Page-Croft
Helen joined Cambridge Enterprise in December 2008 as Contract Accountant. For seven years prior to that she worked for Cambridge Manufacturing Industry Links, now IfM Education and Consultancy Services Limited, another wholly owned company of the University of Cambridge.

Mark Parsons
Mark is head of Finance and Accounting for Cambridge Enterprise Limited, having joined in October 2009. Mark is a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant with over ten years post qualification experience working in public practice and industry.
Initially Mark worked for a local firm of accountants for two years then moved into industry. Recent roles include working for a UK subsidiary of a US owned life science company in St Ives, Cambridgeshire and a large US owned capital equipment manufacturer in Royston, Hertfordshire.

Sarah Collins
Sarah is the Marketing & Communications Manager at Cambridge Enterprise. She has worked at the University since 2008, most recently as Communications Officer for the 800th Anniversary celebrations. Prior to moving to the UK, she managed communications and fundraising activities for several different Canadian non-profit organisations. She has also worked as a freelance journalist, contributing to several local and national publications in Canada.

Shirley Jamieson
Shirley is Head of Marketing which covers marketing and events. In 1999 Shirley co-authored the successful bid on behalf of the University of Cambridge to create the Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre. Shirley was Head of External Relations at the Centre which in 2004 evolved into Cambridge Enterprise. Shirley has extensive experience of start up companies from her experience of working for over fifteen years in executive search. First for Egon Zehnder International as a Researcher and then for six years she was Managing Director of Scientific Resources, part of the Generics Group. During the mid 1990's she ran her own consultancy firm specialising in senior appointments for technology based companies. In 2002 she was the Cambridge Evening News "Business Woman of the Year". She has been a Governor of Anglia Ruskin University since 1993.

Laura Roberts
Laura is the Marketing Administrator at Cambridge Enterprise. She has experience in events and marketing both within smaller institutions and the University. Her previous roles have given her the opportunity to assist at events in Europe and USA. She has pursued a career in marketing and events since graduating in 2007 with a BA Hons in Performing Arts.

Joanna Tramontin
Joanna is Marketing Project Manager, focussed on increasing Cambridge Enterprise's engagement with both the University's Departments and research sponsors through demonstrating the impact of the University's commercialisation activities. Previously Joanna was Marketing & Events Manager, responsible for managing a variety of marketing & PR projects and a portfolio of events, raising awareness of Cambridge Enterprise's activities both within the University and to the wider community. Prior to joining Cambridge Enterprise in October 2004, Joanna worked in the financial services sector.
Seed Funds

Dr Mike Arnott
Mike is the Physical Sciences Investment Manager for the Seed Funds team. He initially worked as an exploration geophysicist, a highlight being the identification of the Banks Shallow field in 1985. Mike then took a PhD in Surface Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, where he patented one and licensed two unrelated technologies to industry.
After completing his PhD, Mike joined Xaar plc, becoming the Senior Technologist and design authority for their printheads up until the flotation of Xaar in 1997. He went on to TTP, developing the TouchSprayTM manufacturing processes and a new ink-jet technology. He was recruited by an American VC to analyse and invest in technology opportunities worldwide – a role he continued with a UK focus for NESTA. Mike then worked on developing startups and licensing opportunities for UCL on topics ranging from climatology through medical devices to nanotechnology before joining Cambridge Enterprise.

Dr Anne Dobrée
Anne joined the Seed Funds team as Access to Capital and Investment Manager at the start of 2008, focussing on investments in the biotech area. Anne had previously worked with Cambridge Enterprise in the technology transfer team, in a variety of roles including Interim Director and Head of Technology Transfer. Anne was a founding member of Praxis, the UK Technology Transfer Training Programme.
Away from Cambridge Enterprise, Anne has worked in technology transfer at Imperial College Innovations Limited; in pharmaceutical development at Evans Medical; and in pharmaceutical product training at Information Transfer. Anne holds a BSc in Medical Microbiology and a PhD in Immunology.

Julie joined Cambridge Enterprise in March 2008 as PA to the Seed Funds team. Julie has over 25 years of experience in a variety of PA/Administrative roles both in the public and private sectors.

Bradley Hardiman
Bradley started his career as a life scientist working for the world's largest pharmaceutical companies. He then moved in to technology transfer and business incubation, commercialising university research. Bradley's previous role was Head of Business Incubation at Design London, a partnership between Imperial College and the Royal College of Art. It was here that he gained experience of a wide range of industrial sectors including heavy manufacturing, fire suppression, electrical engineering and fashion.
Bradley has a B.Sc. In Medical Biochemistry from Brunel University, a Research Master's degree in Molecular Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge and an Executive MBA from Cass Business School. He is a Visiting Fellow at InnovationRCA, the commercialisation arm of the Royal College of Art.

Boris Bouqueniaux
Boris joined Cambridge Enterprise in September 2003 and worked for more than three years as a Senior Technology Associate in the Life Sciences team before becoming Business Support Manager. Boris currently oversees data and processes optimisation and manages the patent, licence and contract administration team supporting Cambridge Enterprise's technology transfer and consultancy business units. He has an MSc in Biology from the University of Montpellier (France). Before joining Cambridge Enterprise, Boris worked as a Research Associate for an international executive search consultancy providing top senior manager and executive recruitment services to the life sciences and healthcare industries.

Inna Cherevach
Inna joined Cambridge Enterprise in September 2009 as Patents and Licences Administrator. She has an MSc in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Pedagogical Sciences. Before joining Cambridge Enterprise, Inna worked on genomes of pathogen microorganisms at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute as a Senior Finisher.

Rob became Helpdesk Manager in January 2007, providing IT and systems support for Cambridge Enterprise (CE). Rob is also responsible for maintaining the CE website.

Marie Georghiou
Marie joined Cambridge Enterprise in October 2012 as Post-Deal Administrator. She has a degree in French Law from Paris I University, a degree in Translation from Montpellier III University and completed her Graduate Diploma in Law at the University of Westminster in 2011.
She has worked in a variety of office roles since 2005 in France, Cyprus and England and volunteers as a teaching assistant on Saturdays.

Jean-Paul is the Database Administrator at Cambridge Enterprise. He has experience in process improvement, report building and database training. His previous roles have given him the opportunity to work with global customers and to develop a broad range of system skills.

Suzy joined Cambridge Enterprise in May 2011 as Technology Transfer Administrator, working Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Suzy has over 15 years' experience in a variety of Reception/Administrative roles.

Lucie joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2010 as the Administrator for the Technology Transfer teams and is now the Patents and Licences Administrator for Life Sciences. She has a degree in English Literature and completed further studies in Social Science. Lucie has worked for several different companies in varying positions, including a role as monthly columnist and researcher with Reed Business Information.

Michael Yardley
Michael became IT and Systems manager for Cambridge Enterprise in May 2007, after 3 years as help desk manager for the University's Research Services Division. Originally a life skills trainer, and then a human resources manager, Michael partially changed career again by focussing his staff management and psychology training on the Information Technology sector. Michael has managed a diverse array of projects during his career and has a personal interest in person centred computing.

Dr Rachel Atfield
Rachel joined Cambridge Enterprise in November 2006 as a Technology Associate in the Life Sciences Team. Before joining Cambridge Enterprise she worked as a Patent Analyst in the Current Awareness team at Thomson Scientific. Rachel has a BSc in Biology from Imperial College London and a PhD in Virology from the University of Cambridge.

Dr Emma Barker
Emma joined Cambridge Enterprise as a member of the Cambridge Enterprise at Addenbrooke's team in 2005. Before joining Cambridge Enterprise she enjoyed 10 years in the biopharmaceutical industry, initially as a medicinal chemist and then as a project manager of drug discovery & optimisation programmes for subsequent outlicensing. Emma has a PhD in organic chemistry from Leicester University.

Dr Laura Donnelly
Laura joined Cambridge Enterprise as a Technology Associate in the Life Sciences team in October 2011. Previously, she completed a postdoctoral research position studying the regulation of cardiac function and disease by cell signaling pathways at the University of Manchester and was project manager of the winning 2010 Biotechnology Young Entrepreneur’s Scheme team. Laura obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Manchester and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of York.

Dr Chunjing Gu
Chunjing joined Cambridge Enterprise as a Technology Associate in the life sciences team in 2012. Before joining Cambridge Enterprise she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at MRC-Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge. Chunjing obtained a PhD in Neurobiology at Department of Pharmacology, University of Cambridge and B.Sc. in Biochemistry from University of Birmingham.

Dr Christine Martin
Christine joined Cambridge Enterprise in September 2011. Before joining Cambridge Enterprise she enjoyed 10 years working for a University of Cambridge spin out company in the biotech sector. As Department Director and Project Leader, her work involved applying the proprietary platform technology within drug discovery projects, generating associated IP protection and partnering assets with Pharma. Christine has an MA and DPhil in Chemistry from the University of Oxford.

Dr Iain Thomas
Iain joined Cambridge Enterprise in November 2003 and now heads the Life Sciences team. He works predominantly with technologies in the fields of biology and chemistry. Iain studied chemistry at Imperial College, London, before completing a PhD at the University of Sydney in organic chemistry catalysis. He enjoyed four years of postdoctoral research at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, three of which were working on polyketides and the manipulation of their biosynthetic pathways. He completed an MBA at the University of Cambridge before spending two years at a private technology transfer company.

Dr Paul Thomas
Paul joined Cambridge Enterprise in November 2011 as a Technology Manager in the Life Sciences team. He brings over 9 years experience in technology transfer and business development gained at the University of Essex. Paul gained a BSc in Biochemistry at Imperial College and returned to IC, after several years’ employment with Celltech, to undertake doctoral research in Protein Engineering. He returned to the biotech industry and spent 15 years in technical and management roles at Syngenta (formerly ICI/Zeneca). He now focuses on innovation management and IP commercialisation. Paul completed an MBA at the University of Bath in 2007.

Dr Andrew Walsh
Andy joined Cambridge Enterprise as a member of the Cambridge Enterprise at Addenbrooke's team in December 2002. Previously, he had followed a research career in molecular biology, focusing on how RNA is recognised by proteins and antibiotics. He was awarded a PhD from the University of Leeds following his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Bradford.

Dr Amanda Wooding
Amanda joined Cambridge Enterprise in January 2009 as a Technology Manager in the Life Sciences Team. Before joining Cambridge Enterprise she gained over ten years of experience in technology commercialisation from roles within The Wellcome Trust commercialisation company Catalyst Biomedica and Acambis. As the UK based Director of Business Development at Acambis she was responsible for in and out licensing, most notably securing a Phase III outlicensing deal with Sanofi Pasteur. Amanda has a PhD in molecular endocrinology from the University of Cambridge and enjoyed post doctoral research positions both at Cambridge and in industry.

Dr Andrea Cantone
Andrea joined Cambridge Enterprise as a Technology Associate in the Physical Sciences team in January 2010. He had previously worked as Research Associate at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge. Andrea has a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pisa and a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge. While at Cambridge, Andrea has been president of Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club (CUTEC).

Dr Gillian Davis
Gillian joined Cambridge Enterprise in February 2009 to work as part of the Physical Sciences team. She holds a BA in Natural Sciences from Oxford University and a doctorate in laser applications. Having spent 10 years as an R&D engineer, she moved into Hi-Tech business development in 1997, obtaining an MBA with the Open University in 1998. After running the subsidiary of the US company Noise Cancellation Technologies for 10 years, she took up the post of Commercial Director at Dolomite Microfluidics in 2007.

Dr Malcolm Grimshaw
Malcolm joined Cambridge Enterprise in the summer of 2002 and is now head of the Physical Sciences team, working with technologies across the whole range of Physical Sciences. His scientific background is in Physics, with a first degree from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Nottingham, and spent three years as a researcher in Grenoble before moving into the scientific equipment industry. He enjoyed 18 years in the cryogenic and vacuum instrumentation industries, initially as an engineer and moving into sales, marketing and new product development.

Philip Keenan
Philip joined Cambridge Enterprise in November 2012, and is responsible for business development for the University of Cambridge's Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) portfolio of research projects, transferring technology and knowledge to UK companies for global exploitation. Prior to this role Philip held a variety of technology management positions with IBM, Hewlett Packard, and a series of SMEs. During 2010-2011 he was Cambridge Enterprise’s Nanoscience Manager. During this time Philip invented and developed a working prototype of a solid state aerosol and particle sensor for volcanic ash sensing which led to further research funding by a major airline to take the sensor into commercial use in passenger aircraft.
Philip has a bachelors degree in Materials Science from the University of Sheffield, a Masters degree in Business from Dublin City University and is a Chartered Engineer. He is listed as inventor in over 20 patents ranging from sensors and inkjet print heads to 3D printing technologies. -
Julian Peck
Julian spent 17 years commercialising innovations in Newcastle before joining Cambridge Enterprise. A graduate of the IfM (Institute for Manufacturing) and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, he has considerable industrial and commercial experience, mostly in the automotive and consumer products sectors. He has also worked in the City in corporate finance.
Julian has real expertise in maximising the commercial returns from patents and intellectual property, especially through licensing and strategic partnerships. He also has first-hand experience of setting up, financing and running commercialisation companies.

Dr Charlanne Ward
Charlanne Ward holds a Ph.D. in Optical Electronics and a degree in Electrical Information and Sciences from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Engineer. Following five years in optical research at Nortel, Charlanne became responsible for the commercialisation and management of Nortel's professional services portfolio in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Cambridge Enterprise Charlanne was an independent consultant in the areas of technology and business strategy with a particular interest in electronics and low carbon solutions.

Dr Margaret Wilkinson
Maggie focuses on the commercialisation of technologies from engineering and physical sciences (including software), and joined Cambridge Enterprise in early 2001. Prior to this she worked for a multinational oil company, initially developing new oil and fuel products for the automotive sector, and more recently in the analysis of environmental and economic data to help formulate business strategy. Maggie holds a degree in Natural Sciences and a PhD in solid state physics from the University of Cambridge.
Maggie has experience in the commercialisation of technology across the range of physical sciences and has worked with the spin-outs Enval, Metalysis and Camfridge.
