Our Ideas to Reality Programme is designed to provide members of the University with the guidance and tools to translate their ideas, research and expertise into real-world impact.

If you are an academic, researcher or PhD student based within the University of Cambridge, and would like to learn more about how to commercialise the outcomes of your research or how to use your existing skills and resources to make an impact, our Ideas to Reality programme is the place to start!

The programme focuses on the different routes to commercialisation open to you, including using your expertise as a consultant, collaborating with external companies, and creating a new company or social enterprise.

  • Commercialisation 101 – an interactive session that focuses on the journey of an innovation from research to real-world impact.
  • Venture Building 101 – an interactive session focusing on the process of starting a company or social venture.

  • Creating Research Impact through Commercialisation – an introductory overview focusing on the variety of ways that research can be commercialised. This session is great for those who are unsure on which of our 101 sessions is best suited to them.
  • Consultancy 101 – a workshop sharing expertise, tips and best practice for undertaking consultancy work.
  • Research Tools 101 – a workshop on to how to license research tools and how they generate impact.
