Cambridge Enterprise Seed Funds, the early-stage investment team led by Anne Dobrée within the University of Cambridge’s commercialisation arm, has been named Investment Unit of the Year by Global University Venturing.

The fund currently holds £10 million in cash and another £20 million in investments. Its current portfolio consists of 86 companies, 51 of which have received capital and 35 that were backed in exchange for equity. Seed Funds, which emphasises beneficial impact in its investment choices, has achieved a 4.3-times cash return on realised investments.

“With the proliferation of funds in the innovation ecosystem, selecting the nominees for Investment Unit of the Year is increasingly challenging,” said Thierry Heles, Editor of Global University Venturing. “Winning this year’s award is therefore a significant and highly deserved achievement.”
