RegGenome secures multi-year contract with Asian Development Bank
SpinoutsRegGenome, one of Cambridge Enterprise Ventures’ portfolio companies, has been selected by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in a multi-year contract to support anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CFT), countering proliferation financing (CPF) and cybersecurity efforts across Pacific Island countries.
RegGenome, a regulatory data technology company, will deploy its AI-powered regulatory framework analysis and assessment platform to deliver comparative analysis of AML, CFT, CPF and cybersecurity requirements across 14 Pacific Island countries and key partner jurisdictions, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Japan and the European Union. This will provide regulators with structured data and AI-enabled tools to strengthen compliance frameworks and financial resilience, while also supporting supervisors and policymakers with practical insights.
This project comes at a time when Pacific Island countries are facing restricted access to international financial services, partly due to a reduction in correspondent banking relationships. Limited regulatory information and higher compliance costs have made it more challenging for financial institutions in the region. The ADB initiative is designed to help Pacific regulators benchmark their domestic frameworks against international standards, their peers and key trading partner economies. The aim is to reduce the cost and time of due diligence and improve access to financial services.
The project will benefit regulators, peer reviewers, financial institutions and development partners. Regulators will gain a clearer understanding of the priorities needed to implement international standards. Peer reviewers will have improved insights into the frameworks implemented in the jurisdictions analysed through the platform. Financial institutions will be able to compare requirements across different jurisdictions more easily, and development partner support can become more targeted and effective. Pacific regulators will also receive continuous regulatory analysis, quarterly gap-assessment reports and training programmes to build local capacity for compliance and supervision.
“Being selected by the Asian Development Bank is a clear recognition of the value and impact of RegGenome's technology.”
Christine Martin continued, “This project will help strengthen financial resilience and regulatory standards across the Pacific, demonstrating how Cambridge innovation is addressing global challenges. Congratulations to the RegGenome team on this outstanding achievement.”
As a University of Cambridge spinout, RegGenome’s selection for this important project demonstrates the impact of Cambridge innovation globally and the value of our support. While the immediate focus is on the Pacific, RegGenome expects additional regions to adopt this approach given correspondent banking de-risking is a significant challenge for developing economies worldwide. We congratulate the RegGenome team on this achievement and look forward to seeing the positive outcomes of their work with ADB.
