Sharing expertise through Consultancy – Thiscovery

Thiscovery is an online platform developed by THIS Institute, where people who have questions about health and care can connect with people who can help with the answers. Thiscovery provides the capability to understand problems, gather evidence, build shared visions, co-design solutions, and evaluate them at scale. It provides a mechanism to engage large, diverse crowds of people across geographies, at speed, and with rigour to deliver actionable insights for real world change.

Benefits of working within Consultancy Services?

“Cambridge Enterprise has worked with us on a number of different consultancy projects and one of them that’s been very exciting has been developing a national program for improving the safety in maternity care, and as everyone sadly knows, this has been the focus of a lot of attention because of really quite catastrophic events in the maternity system. We’ve been able to use Thiscovery to support this, to co-design the interventions with maternity staff and, very importantly, with women and birth partners themselves. So a lot of delicate collaboration agreements and other features of this very fast moving project had to be negotiated expertly and on time, and Cambridge Enterprise did a great job with that.”

– Dr Mary Dixon-Woods, Professor, Department of Public Health and Primary Care.

What does the future hold for Thiscovery?

“We can see huge impact of the work that we’re helping support with Thiscovery. If we just think about the one example of the maternity services project, hopefully in the next couple of years, all children born in the UK will have a safer passage into the world due to the outputs of that consultancy project. But longer term for Thiscovery itself, our passion and our drive is really to get it setup as a company it its own right so that it can continue to develop and expand and Cambridge Enterprise will be there throughout that process to help give them advice to get to that end point.”

– Helen Atkinson, Deputy Head of Consultancy Services, Cambridge Enterprise.
