We are delighted to announce the finalists of our Postdoc Business Plan Competition have been selected.

Due to the high calibre of the projects, the judges elected to send four business plans through to the final. They are:

Dr David Fairen-Jimenez

Dr Julia Tischler

Dr Richard Bowman

Dr Tongyun Li

The grand finale will be held on Thursday 3 December when the postdoc finalists will pitch their business plans in front of an audience of experts in spin-out investment, members of Cambridge Enterprise, the Entrepreneurial Postdocs of Cambridge who have co-sponsored the event, and other notable members of the University. Their pitches will be judged based on a number of criteria, including the business’s competitive position, the potential for business creation and the team’s collective skill set.

The cash prizes are £15,000 (first place) and £7,500 (second place). The winner will also have the opportunity to pitch to investors at one of our Cambridge Venture Partners dinners.

If you entered but didn’t make it through to the finals, we hope you’ve learned from your mentors and that the process has helped you in your quest for commercialisation.

Congratulations to all the finalists: we’ll see you at the grand finale. Good luck!
