The New York Leap is the first international landing spot of the Cambridge Enterprise Leaps initiative.

Following our inaugural Leap in London, our first international Leap launched in New York, in collaboration with the Janus Property Company.

New York offers a unique combination of world-leading research institutions, capital markets, and commercial partners, making it a key location for ventures seeking to scale internationally.

The New York Leap is a temporary landing hub for portfolio companies, founders, and technology ventures within Innovation Triangle-West Harlem, (ITWH) leveraging the Janus Property Company’s ecosystem and multiple partnerships including those with Harlem Biospace, Gotham Foundry, Columbia School of Engineering, Columbia Business School, the New York Structural Biology Centre, Chan Zuckerberg Biohub and CUNY Advanced Science Research Centre (ASRC).

This collaboration will provide Cambridge-linked ventures with short-term soft-landing support, access to New York’s capital markets, talent, industry networks, and research partners, all within ITWH – New York’s global hub of innovation.

Scott Metzner, Founding Principal of The Janus Property Company, said:

“New York’s vibrant innovation community is thrilled to have Cambridge Enterprise’s LEAP programme land in Innovation Triangle-West Harlem and the Factory District.”

The inaugural New York Leap cohort includes five Cambridge Enterprise portfolio companies spanning the fields of brain cancer, multiple sclerosis and CNS therapeutics, aging-related disease, tumour measurement and integrated photonics.

They are:
Verinnogen has developed technology designed to improve the precision and consistency of tumour size and volume measurements, with the potential to improve preclinical data and accelerate drug-development decisions.

Streamtrix is developing AI-powered software to improve treatment planning for an aggressive brain cancer called Glioblastoma. Using routine MRI scans, the technology maps where the cancer is most likely to progress, with the aim of personalising and refining both surgical and radiotherapy treatment margins.

Aila Biotech is a University of Cambridge spinout developing a novel gene therapy platform that enables the brain to produce its own therapeutic biologics to treat neuroinflammation. Its lead programme, AILA-001, uses controllable, CNS-targeted gene delivery to stimulate local immune regulation, with an initial focus on primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS).

Senesys.Bio is developing technology engineered to deliver therapeutic agents specifically to senescent cells, targeting aging and age-related disease.

Wave Photonics develops photonic integrated technology for datacom, quantum and sensing markets using rapid computational design technology.

Ioannis Prattis, CEO and Co-founder of Senesys.Bio, part of the New York Leap cohort said:

“The New York Leap provides Senesys.Bio with a crucial foothold in the US biopharma market, accelerating the commercialisation of our targeted drug delivery platform for age-related diseases. As a founder, the immediate immersion into this dynamic ecosystem is invaluable for forging the strategic and commercial partnerships we need to scale globally.”
