New York Leap FAQs

• Access to workspace within the Janus / Innovation Triangle West Harlem (ITWH) ecosystem, including Harlem Biospace and Communitas
• Ad hoc access and introductions to shared facilities where relevant (eg Harlem Biospace, ASRC, CInC, Gotham Foundry, West Harlem Green Tech Lab) and guidance on short-term wet lab access options if needed
• Support navigating facilities and resources (eg CORE labs where relevant)
• Integration into the ITWH community through events, talks and introductions
• Exposure to the New York City ecosystem – industry, investors and partners
• Integration into the local ecosystem through introductions, networking and light-touch community access
• Light-touch guidance or introductions around short-term housing/accommodation
• Informal mentorship or ad hoc advice where appropriate
• Opportunities to present or participate in ITWH or New York ecosystem events
• Assistance in navigating the New York landscape (capital, talent, facilities)

The New York Leap is stage-agnostic.

Applicants should ensure that have raised sufficient capital to:

• Pay for their travel, accommodation and associated expenses
• Ensure that they are able to continue operate/progress from their home office while individual representatives are exploring new connections in New York

Applications will be assessed based on readiness to benefit from the New York ecosystem, rather than a specific funding stage.

No. There is no minimum or maximum funding requirement.

No. Applicants must have an existing relationship with Cambridge Enterprise.

Yes. Solo founders may apply.

Participants are expected to make active, in-person use of the New York base during the six month period.

Specific expectations will be agreed with selected companies and may vary depending on circumstances.

During the application, you will be asked to outline how you intend to use the New York Leap, including frequency and duration of visits and team attendance. This could include a single extended visit or multiple shorter trips.

All visits must be pre-arranged with Cambridge Enterprise / Janus Property Management.

No. Up to six team members can access the workspace, but founders can choose who attends and when (subject to agreement by Janus Property Management on dates).

Applications are made via an online form.

Application timeline

• 1 July 2026: Applications open
• 2 August 2026: Applications close
• 3 – 31 August 2026: Review period
• w/c 31 August 2026: Outcomes communicated to applicants
• 1 October 2026: New York Leap operational and accessible

We will notify all applicants of the outcome of their application. Feedback may be provided on request.

2-3 companies will be selected to participate in the New York Leap, subject to applications.

The New York Leap will be operational and open for use from 1 October 2026 – 30 April 2027 (six months).

No. There is no financial arrangement between Cambridge Enterprise and New York partners, and users do not pay to access the service.

Cambridge Enterprise does not cover costs associated with participation (eg travel, accommodation, subsistence). Participants are expected to fund these independently.

After the six month engagement, founders are encouraged to continue developing relationships built during the placement, including investors, advisors, talent and ecosystem partners.

At the end of the engagement period, all partners and participants will be contacted to share feedback and to capture outcomes, learnings and any key success factors.

Yes. New York Leap is an addition to existing services and does not impact any other Cambridge Enterprise service or activity available to you.

You are eligible to apply if you have already raised investment. We recognise that founders will be at different stages, and the stage of your company will be considered during the review process to ensure suitability.

The New York Leap provides exposure to communities and networks, including investors.

While investment is not guaranteed, participants may have opportunities to build relationships that could support future fundraising.

The partnership model is non- financial.

Partners provide workspace and access because of the shared mission to support Cambridge innovation.

No. The New York Leap provides an opportunity for exposure to the New York ecosystem and to access new networks. There is no programmatic offering provided as part of this initiative.
