Location Cambridge
Salary Up to £40,000

Cambridge Enterprise is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic EIP Partner with a strong admin focused mindset to join our Ecosystem Initiatives & Partnerships (EIP) team.

Cambridge Enterprise is the commercialisation arm of the University of Cambridge and is part of Europe’s most successful research and technology cluster. Our mission is to help University of Cambridge innovators, experts and entrepreneurs make their ideas and concepts more commercially successful for the benefit of society, the UK economy and the University.

Our newly created Ecosystem Initiatives & Partnerships (EIP) team plays a key role in delivering our agenda to connect two pivotal ecosystems – the University and the wider Cambridge ecosystem – in a pro-active and strategic way that enables maximum benefit for both. Cambridge Enterprise sits as a bridge between these ecosystems – intrinsically linked to both – and EIPs activity is designed to support potential entrepreneurs and founders as part of a global innovative university ecosystem. EIP currently manages three core activities:

  • ideaSpace
  • University Enterprise Network and IE Cambridge (Innovation & Entrepreneurship)
  • International Outreach (IO)

This is a full-time role based at the University’s West Cambridge site at the Hauser Forum and will ideally be office-based for 3 days per week (or more if preferred).

Full time salary up to £40,000 based on individual skills and experience.

This position will remain open until filled.

The Role:

This newly established role is to support the Head of EIP across the business unit (30%) but primarily to work on the delivery of our International Outreach activity (70%). Through International Outreach (IO), Cambridge Enterprise shares its experience and expertise with universities, governments and other organisations around the world with training and consultancy projects, using a network of experienced consultants alongside our own staff. The Team Assistant is the first point of contact for all incoming enquiries and requests for support and engagement.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Executive administration duties for the Head of Ecosystem Initiatives and Partnerships.
  • Manage all incoming queries to IO, holding initial conversations to scope requests and gather data, which will support the Head of Ecosystem Initiatives and Partnerships in translating appropriate requests into propositions.
  • Maintain contact with clients throughout the process.
  • Meeting management including organising and coordinating meetings, taking minutes, setting appropriate agendas and assisting with presentations.
  • Support proposal development by helping with due diligence, budget modelling and information, using established frameworks, to create proposal documents.
  • Liaising directly with other CE business units (consultancy, finance, marketing) and other relevant central University offices or departments as required.
  • Maintaining business unit records of activity and progress against deliverables.
  • Coordinating the delivery of inbound and outbound visits, ensuring all logistics for the visit are in place and acting as main point of contact.

Skills & experience:

  • You will be a sociable people person, confident talking to key stakeholders.
  • You have demonstrable administration experience and strong analytical skills,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and can easily convey complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand.
  • You have a solution-focused mindset and see every challenge as an opportunity to find a creative solution.
  • You are comfortable multi-tasking and can maintain a focus on the bigger picture.
  • You are an agile worker who enjoys being part of a small team, talking on responsibility for multiple aspects of projects.

These are our ideal requirements, but we know some people are less likely to apply for the role unless they are 100% qualified. We promote a diverse, inclusive, and empowering culture at Cambridge Enterprise, so please apply if you meet the majority of these competencies.

We offer exceptional benefits and invest greatly in our team’s happiness, wellbeing, and growth. Our benefits include:

  • 30 days holiday per year plus bank holidays,
  • Generous University pension scheme with an employer contribution of 5% with 3% employee contribution.
  • Flexible working environment with the opportunity to work from abroad for up to 90 days per year for most roles.

This is alongside a commitment to employee personal development, a modern office space on the West Cambridge site (home to a thriving academic and research and development community) and the chance to work in a vibrant team in one of the world’s leading Technology Transfer offices.

Equal Opportunities Statement:

Cambridge Enterprise is an equal opportunity employer and will strive to reduce unconscious bias throughout our hiring process. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, veteran, neurodiversity status or disability status.

We endeavour to embrace diversity, and promote an inclusive environment for all employees, and actively work towards this with our EDI Working Group.
