How would you market the commercial ventures of world-leading academics?
This is a full time role, and the salary is competitive.
Sitting at the heart of Europe’s most successful technology cluster, Cambridge Enterprise is the commercialisation arm of the University of Cambridge. We support academic staff and students, and turn technology, expertise and innovation into a valuable and sustainable portfolio of companies, investments, licences and consultancies.
2017 was a busy year for us. As well as celebrating our 10th anniversary we also completed a strategic review and identified our priorities for the next five years. In turn, the Marketing and Communications team has been restructured in order to focus on our markets and ensure we can more effectively deliver our objectives. As part of this restructure we now have an exciting opportunity for a capable and motivated communications manager to expand and enhance our internal and external communications.
Guided by our mission, the Communications Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of an integrated communications plan that embraces Cambridge Enterprise’s varied markets and audiences. With oversight of the website, intranet and social media channels together with selected content creation and communications support for marketing campaigns, the role offers significant scope to increase awareness and engagement with our customers and stakeholders across and beyond the University.
Working collaboratively with colleague and peers, and supported by the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Communications Manager will have quotidian responsibility for ensuring all communications are brand-led, timely and fully integrated across all channels. This is a visible role within Cambridge Enterprise and will contribute to a wide variety of campaigns and projects. Find out more in our Job Profile.
Drawing on your practical experience and professional training, you will already know your strategies from your tactics, your metrics from your media and your stakeholders from your audiences. You will have a track record of developing and delivering communication plans, including the creation of key messages and the content to support them. Naturally, you will be a self-assured and engaging communicator, both in person and on paper. Comfortable working within a team, you will be equally adept at managing your own time and prioritising your workload.
You will be used to managing multiple campaigns and projects simultaneously whilst ensuring a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail is achieved throughout your work. You will also be familiar with applying brand guidelines and understand how to define and evaluate effectiveness. Your awareness of best practice and communication trends helps you make better-informed decisions and complements your critical approach to evaluating opportunity and risk.
