Cambridge Social Ventures: CRoSS Venture Creation Weekend

We’re delighted that Cambridge Social Ventures, one of the UK’s leading incubators for social enterprise, will host a special weekend for researchers inspired to start a business with social impact at its core. The Social Venture Weekend is packed with training and mentoring to help you to refine your early idea and give you confidence – and a community – as you take your first steps as a social entrepreneur.

This workshop is best suited to people who already have a clear idea for a social enterprise and are starting to develop real plans. Your ideas might still be a bit rough, but you’ll get the most from the workshop if you can tell us what your business idea is and what your social mission is.

Places are limited and may fill up in advance of the deadline: submit your application as early as possible.

Trainers: CE and JBS experts and mentors

Learning outcomes: Practical workshops to get started on plans for a social enterprise or a new business with social impact at its core. Workshops will deliver basic concepts in business planning, finance and legal structures – a talk through some basic concepts in business and help you identify some practical steps forward to make your idea a reality. You’ll leave the workshop with knowledge and resources you can use straight away, as you take your first steps towards building your new business.

Who should apply:

  • University of Cambridge researchers and academics in the Arts and Humanities and Social Science at different stages of their careers and/or at different stages of their research journey.
  • We will also be welcoming selected social entrepreneurs from the Impact12 universities group.
