As Head of Finance and Accounting, Mark is responsible for the accounting function of Cambridge Enterprise, including effective recording, accounting and reporting, as well as meeting annual audit and other compliance obligations.
In addition to traditional finance and accounting duties, the Finance Team is responsible for the accurate and timely distribution of income received from commercialisation activities to parties including academics, departments, research funders and third parties.
Mark has been instrumental in automating the quarterly close process and implementing new accounting systems to better serve the business units and support functions of the organisation. Mark is the Assistant Company Secretary for the organisation, carrying out company secretarial duties on behalf of the Registrary of the University of Cambridge, and is also the Cambridge representative LLP Committee Member for Apollo Therapeutics LLP.
Mark has held a variety of accounting, reporting and financial compliance roles for UK, US and European companies of varying sizes, in head office as well as subsidiary environments. Mark has over 20 years’ accounting experience, working in public practice and industry for a variety of companies including capital equipment manufacturing, healthcare, agrochemical and dot com.
Mark is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and graduated with a BSc Hons in Business Information Systems.
Mark joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2009.
As Financial Accountant, Elizabeth provides support to the Head of Finance and the Financial Controller as well as being responsible for VAT, fixed assets and monthly reporting for the Technology Transfer teams.
Elizabeth joined Cambridge Enterprise as an Accounts Assistant and was recently promoted to Financial Accountant. She has more than 20 years’ experience of ledger accounts.
Elizabeth joined Cambridge Enterprise in August 2007.
Catalina's role involves preparing the monthly payment runs; reconciling the bank accounts, the Barclays credit card and the petty cash; and dealing with purchase orders.
Catalina has worked most recently in the finance departments of Cambridge University colleges. Earlier roles have been with the European Finance Service centre of an American company near Cambridge, ‘Banco International’, now part of HSBC, and in the accounts department of a family business.
Catalina completed her finance studies at a private University in Mexico (ITESM). She has since moved with her family to Germany, Denmark and the UK.
Catalina joined Cambridge Enterprise in May 2018.
Steven is responsible for invoicing for both Cambridge Enterprise and Cambridge University Technical Sales Ltd.
He came to the company after five years’ experience working for a spin-out from Cambridge Consultants. Prior to this, Steven had more than 25 years’ experience in manufacturing, retail and wholesale accounts.
Steven joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2011.
Rosemary is responsible for credit control. Her role includes preparing invoices and collecting payments for medical specialists in private practice, and administrating customer payments.
Previous roles include: PA to the District Head Postmaster of Royal Mail Cambridge; Receptionist/Administrator at Arthur D Little; and Secretary to the Directors at Win-Born Products Ltd, carrying out all accounts and payroll.
Rosemary joined Cambridge Enterprise in April 2017.
As Financial Controller, Helen is responsible for producing quarterly management accounts for both Cambridge Enterprise and Cambridge University Technical Services. Additional duties include distribution of licence and royalty income to academics and departments.
Prior to joining Cambridge Enterprise, Helen worked for Cambridge Manufacturing Industry Links, now IfM Education and Consultancy Services Limited, another wholly owned company of the University of Cambridge.
Helen completed the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification in 1998 and has over 30 years’ experience in various financial roles.
Helen joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2008.
As Head of Human Resources (HR), Ruth guides, manages and provides strategy on the people function of Cambridge Enterprise.
In this role, Ruth has been developing and implementing HR best practice in areas such as employee engagement and communication, attracting and managing talent, employee reward, and employee wellbeing. This progress is reflected in our Gold accreditation as one of the Best Employers in the Eastern Region for 2018.
Ruth values the flexible and agile working environment at Cambridge Enterprise, as well as the inclusive and engaged culture.
Ruth has over 20 years’ HR experience, working across various sectors including not-for-profit (Cambridge-based housing associations CHS Group and Granta Housing Society), new business (high tech start-up Geneva Technology) and global corporation (Convergys).
Ruth holds Chartered Member status of the CIPD and graduated with a BA Hons in Philosophy and European Literature.
Ruth joined Cambridge Enterprise in 2014.
Ananay supports TenU in capturing effective practices in research commercialisation and sharing these with UK and US governments and higher education communities.
TenU is a transatlantic collaboration of the ten leading technology transfer offices of the universities of Cambridge, Columbia, Edinburgh, Imperial College London, KU Leuven, Manchester, MIT, Stanford, Oxford, and UCL. TenU members strive to collectively increase the impact of research by translating academic research findings into innovative products and services and so support economic and social growth.
Prior to joining TenU, Ananay worked as an independent consultant connecting policy and research in the areas of copyright, cultural policy and diversity. Her clients included the International Federation of Musicians, Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Ivors Academy.
She previously held a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship and a Mellon Disciplinary Innovation Teaching Fellowship at the University of Cambridge.
Ananay continues to be affiliated with the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law (CIPIL) and to mentor early career researchers as part of the University’s Office for Postdoctoral Affairs Mentorship Scheme.
Ananay joined Cambridge Enterprise in June 2020.
Emilie-Kate is responsible for events and communications within TenU.
TenU is a global collaboration between ten universities located in the US, UK and Europe that work together to create policies and practices to further commercialisation techniques. This research is shared with senior policy advisors, US and UK government officials and the higher education community.
Prior to joining TenU, Emilie-Kate worked within the food safety sector of Ireland as an auditor, a trainer and event coordinator. She also worked within Munster Technological University (MTU) as a food regulations lecturer and entrepreneurship coordinator. Emilie-Kate ran the MTU Innovation week event for two years, judged at the best young entrepreneur of the year national awards and facilitated the business model canvas event and student incubation program out of the Rubicon Centre located within MTU. She has also worked as a consultant for multiple start-ups in conjunction with the Local Enterprise Office and Cork County Council.
Emilie-Kate has a Bachelor of Business in Culinary Arts Degree and Honours Degree in Hospitality Management. She was awarded her Masters in Business with her thesis in Dark Tourism in 2019 from Munster Technological University. She is also trained to the highest level of food safety training in Ireland at FETAC level 6. She was also awarded the Delta Award in 2018 as part of the Innovation and Enterprise team of MTU for furthering entrepreneurship practices within the University environment.
Emilie-Kate joined Cambridge Enterprise in August 2021.
Until July 2021, Georgina split her time between IOP and support for TenU, but now works exclusively as a member of the International Outreach Team.
Georgina is currently working towards a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing with the Open University having recently completed a Level 2 BTEC in Business Administration with Cambridge Enterprise and Cambridge Regional College. Georgina finished Sixth Form at Impington Village College, where she achieved an International Baccalaureate certificate in English literature and language and a A* in performing arts.
Georgina joined Cambridge Enterprise in October 2018.
Carol has 20 years' experience as an Executive Assistant and currently supports the Chief Executive, Deputy Director and Head of International Affairs, as well as the Chair and Cambridge Enterprise Board members. Carol is also an active member of the Professional Assistants Team, providing high level personal, efficient and confidential support to Cambridge Enterprise as a whole.
Before joining Cambridge Enterprise, Carol worked for MedImmune, the global biopharmaceutical research and development arm of AstraZeneca, as an Executive Assistant supporting three Senior Clinical Directors across therapeutic areas. Prior to this she worked for the Vice-President of UK and Europe and the Medical Director at Gilead Ltd.
Carol has a degree in Institutional Management from Birmingham University and an HND in Public Relations.
Carol joined Cambridge Enterprise in September 2016.
Rafal oversees the general running of the Hauser Forum and provides support to Seminar Centre users.
Previously, Rafal worked for almost nine years in Trinity Hall providing support for its conference and housekeeping teams. During this time he became an AV Technologist. Rafal also holds a Building Technician Diploma.
Rafal joined Cambridge Enterprise in October 2016.
Sinead is responsible for all areas of office administration including procurement, admin procedures, H&S, facilities management and new starter inductions.
Sinead oversees H&S and facilities for the Hauser Forum as a whole, as well as for the Cambridge Enterprise office space. Sinead also provides a wide range of support to the Head of HR and is often the first point of contact throughout the recruitment process.
Recent achievements include the redesign and modernisation of the staff kitchen and creating a welcome pack for new members of staff to receive when their contracts are sent out.
Sinead has extensive administrative experience from a range of roles for different companies including Specsavers and Johnson Matthey.
Sinead holds a BA hons in Politics from Nottingham Trent University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Sinead joined Cambridge Enterprise as Office Administrator in November 2013 and was promoted to Office Manager in October 2014.
