Shirley Jamieson - Head of International Relations and Outreach Programmes
Shirley leads our international relations and outreach work, liaising with Universities globally to share our wealth of expertise and experience in technology transfer.
A recent highlight was welcoming professionals from technology transfer teams worldwide for the second Research Commercialisation Open Programme. Cambridge Enterprise also recently hosted around 50 scientists from the Polish Development Fund’s School of Pioneers to attend a highly interactive one-week programme focused on entrepreneurship.
In 1999, Shirley co-authored the successful bid on behalf of the University of Cambridge to create the Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre. Shirley was Head of External Relations at the Centre which, in 2004, evolved into Cambridge Enterprise.
Shirley has extensive experience of start-up companies from her experience of working for more than 15 years in executive search, initially for Egon Zehnder International as a researcher and then for six years as Managing Director of Scientific Resources, part of the Generics Group. During the mid 1990s, she ran her own consultancy firm specialising in senior appointments for technology-based companies. In 2002, she was the Cambridge Evening News ‘Business Woman of the Year’. Shirley was a governor of Anglia Ruskin University until 2012 and is Chair of the Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust.
Shirley was appointed Head of International Relations and Outreach Programmes in January 2018. Prior to this, she was Head of Marketing and Communications for over ten years.
