The Technology Strategy Board invites proposals for collaborative research and development to address business and technology challenges impeding the adoption of cloud computing. The call focuses on three strategic challenges to adoption for many organisations – interoperability, resilience of data and identity assurance. Successful projects will demonstrate how new or improved value chains and networks can be created, and show where value can be increased by offering innovative information, content and services in the cloud.

There are two strands to this competition. Strand 1 is a single-stage fast-track process. Projects must be led by a small or medium-sized enterprise and will generally attract up to 50% public funding and must last between six and twelve months. Strand 2 is a two-stage competition. Consortia should have at least one SME and one medium-to-large partner. Projects will generally attract up to 50% public funding and must last between six and twelve months.

Funding: £4.5M will be invested by the TSB. Total project size for strand 1 will be up to £150K, while strand 2 projects will receive between £150K and £2M.

Eligibility: All proposals must be collaborative and business-led. Those seeking project partners are advised to visit https://connect.innovateuk.org/web/innovating-in-the-cloud.

Deadlines: Registration deadline for both strands – 15 August 2012
Deadline for applications to strand 1 – 22 August 2012
Deadline for expressions of interest to strand 2 – 22 August 2012
Deadline for invited applications to strand 2 – 19 October 2012
